ABOUT

As a former professional rugby player there are some attributes that become engrained within someone. Integrity, perfectionism, leadership, collaboration, a possessed nature to succeed. Attributes that happen to transcend very effectively into the film and commercial world.

This path brought David to UCD on a sports scholarship and also towards gaining his degree in Creative Writing & English. A background that is used extensively today in the creative process and scripting for companies and clients.

Having to leave his love for rugby behind due to injury, David’s step into the film world began as an intern with Screen Scene, Ireland’s leading post production company, where he learned from the best editors in the country.

Over the next few years he gained experience on some of Ireland’s largest productions. Game of Thrones, Ripper Street, Vikings, Operation Transformation, The Restaurant, Delinquent Season and Striking Out to name a few.

Simultaneously David began to pursue his own love for filmmaking using all the experience from these larger productions on his own. With over a 25 short films to his name, two IFTA nominations as a producer and 150+ screenings at film festivals worldwide he began to understand what connected with audiences.

Cinematography began to surface as David’s leading passion, and similar to everything he has ever done, he committed fully to it. Now owning and operating a Red Digital Cinema Camera he began to combine cinematography, producing and editing together with a writers brain. A niche that few if any cinematographers have ever done. This was noticed by Boys + Girls, Ireland’s most awarded advertising company, and David began full time with them in 2018. Working with clients such as Three, ŠKODA, Aptamil, Jose Cuervo, Bushmills, Heinz and Ulster Bank provided David with a high pressure environment to thrive in.

A licensed drone pilot since 2022 he has amassed over 600+ flights on four continents. In 2023 he added the Arri Alexa 35 to his arsenal, which is considered as the industry standard for commercial and film projects.

David has finally found his calling as a high end cinematographer & editor that is not only working with Ireland’s best and brightest companies but also helping great people do great things.
